The scope of activities offered includes fire origin and cause analysis through site examination, chemical analysis of samples and equipment/appliance testing. Professional expertise is available to conduct appropriate testing and evaluation as well as to communicate results and professional opinions.
The scope of professional evaluations covers fires involving structures and equipment/appliances which include, but are not limited to, the following:
Appliances (electric, gas, oil) including:
Boilers, furnaces, ovens, ranges, hot water heaters, refrigerators, kerosene heaters, radios, television receivers, etc.
Electrical and mechanical operating controls
Fire protection systems (suppression and detection)
Chemical and hazardous material
Field testing and site evaluation may be performed for applications in residential, commercial and industrial environments. Laboratory facilities are utilized to evaluate the present condition and hydrocarbon content of secured evidence are provided through appropriate use of one or a combination of the following means:
Gas chromatography (flame ionization detector)
Gas chromatography/mass spectrometry
Gas leakage testing
Electrical continuity testing
Functional testing of equipment / appliance through simulation
